Mariam and her sister Maria are two of the kids you can help this Ramadan. While they appear bright and happy today, they have overcome tragedies that no child should ever have to face.

​

Mariam and Maria were just 6 and 7 years old when their family broke apart. Heartbreakingly, they no longer had parents with the capacity to raise them.

​

Their memories are filled with grief, uncertainty and nights of going to bed hungry. Before coming to the Ibrahimpur orphanage, Mariam and Maria struggled to get even one nutritious meal every two days. Most of us would have had six meals in that same time frame. Malnourishment at such a young age is detrimental for a child’s entire development

Having lived at the Ibrahimpur Orphanage for over a year, their lives have transformed forever. They now enjoy three nutritious meals a day and play with other girls their age. However, they said their favorite thing about living at the Ibrahimpur Orphanage is getting to go to school. When every day involves simply worrying about where your next meal will come from, education can seem like a distant luxury.

During a recent interview, these resilient young girls shared a special message for you:

 “Thank you for generously giving us notebooks, pens, clothes, soap, combs and brushes. We are so grateful to FKSI supporters!”
